Once again the end of the year is here and to mark this, we would like to celebrate some of the practice and project highlights we've achieved this year. Thanks to all of our colleagues, partners and friends of the practice that made it all happen and here's to 2022!
Practice Highlights
1 - Associate Jade Chau joined the STEAM Commission as one of their representatives to ensure businesses are able to benefit from the range of talent in the borough.
2 - The Real Estate issue of the Green Influencers book was published in Greece with a key selection of our projects across the UK featured alongside an insight on the architectural process of Bennetts Associates and an in-depth interview with Associate Director for Europe, Edward Marchand.
3 - We marked #IWD2021 with a celebration of women who inspire the Bennetts Associates team.
4 - We were one of the 80+ UK businesses urging Prime Minister Boris Johnson to deliver coherent climate strategy in countdown to COP26.
5 The spotlight was placed on some of our LGBTQIA+ colleagues for a 'Summer of Pride' through our #BuildingEquality campaign.
6- As well as taking part in the Global Climate Strike in London, Edinburgh and Manchester, our team made personal climate pledges.
7- We co-hosted our first virtual roundtable event with Buro Happold 'Ready Steady Greece: The race to build back greener' alongside Dimand S.A and Enterprise Greece.
8- To mark this years’ Theatres Trust conference we published important research to help define what net zero means for theatre buildings.
Project Highlights
1- We started off the year with the official launch of RCOG in London. The retrofit building dedicated to women's health has gone on to be shortlisted for awards and included in the Building Centre's 90 for 90 campaign.
2 - We were delighted to hear Hertford Theatre had been granted planning permission. The project will start on site this summer and completion is due in 2023, setting it to be a major cultural hub for East Hertfordshire.
3 - The news of secured further funding from the Scottish Government, enable the redevelopment of King's Theatre in Edinburgh.
4 - We celebrated the success of taking home four RIBA and RIAS awards this year which increased the practice's total to 30 RIBA/RIAS awards!
5 - In addition to the four regional awards, we went on to receive three RIBA National Awards for the Advanced Product Creation Centre for Jaguar Land Rover, Bayes Centre for University of Edinburgh and The Royal College of Pathologists.
6 - We were very proud to publish our first LETI Embodied Carbon Ratings for two of our projects: 11-21 Canal Reach and Sports Hall, King's Cross. We believe this is the first public use of the new LETI declaration which we were involved in creating, and we are aiming to publish more in the next year!
7 - We ended the year with the opening of Norton Global HQ. Our project for the iconic British motorcycle brand is a sustainable retrofit within an existing industrial building in Solihull.
