Director Peter Fisher spoke to Fran Williams at The Architects' Journal about our approach and challenges to doing post-occupancy evaluation successfully. The interview is featured in the September issue 'RetroFit' of AJ Specification.
The detailed piece focuses on three of our notable projects that were completed 20 years ago, to currently in progress: Wessex Water, the Potterrow Development and Lavington Street.
As part of our practice's annual Christmas CPD, the entire team joined BuroHappold to visit and tour the Wessex Water Operations Centre in Bath: a project we completed exactly 20 years ago to see how the building is working at present day. Since its completion, Wessex Water is still to this day a project we gained many valuable lessons from, and with Buro Happold providing the data from the POE, it reflects the robustness and timelessness in its design and environmental strategy.
'Over the years we have gained a much better understanding of operational energy performance and thereby operational carbon impacts. With that, we're increasingly able to judge the balance between operational and embodied carbon emissions..' - Peter Fisher, Director Bennetts Associates
