Bennetts Associates will host an evening exploring the ‘Knowledge Building’: hybrid schemes featuring flexible workplace, educational, and social uses. Director Simon Erridge will discuss how these buildings stimulate collaboration and increase transparency.
These hybrid buildings put into practice lessons learned in the contemporary Workplace, Education and Cultural sectors, creating sustainable, day-long spaces for people to come together and share ideas and experiences.
‘Knowledge Buildings’ shape the future of some of the UK’s leading institutions, including Bennetts Associates’ recently completed Royal College of Pathologists which will be presented as a case study. Located in the rapidly-changing area of Aldgate on the city’s eastern fringes, the eight-storey building represents the final phase in the College’s relocation from its former Grade I listed home in the West End. Buildings like these have enabled their occupants to leave inflexible historic buildings and move into sustainable, contemporary environments for the first time.
The idea of what a contemporary Royal College looks like will also be discussed though Bennetts Associates’ Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists currently under construction in Southwark, and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in Camden.
This event is free to attend but pre-booking on eventbrite is essential. The talk will be followed by drinks in the studio courtyard.
