As our entire team has had to adapt to different work schedules and surroundings across London, Manchester and Edinburgh. We have launched an interview series to catch up with individuals and see what creative change, tips, and observations they've been experiencing during this time. This week we speak to Architect Jo Dunwell who is up in Edinburgh.

Who are you isolating with and how are you all finding it?

JD: My partner Harry and our two cats, Ula and Claude. We are working out a routine and enjoying spending time together.

During the times you've been outdoors, what are the biggest changes you've noticed?

JD: We have had some beautiful weather during lockdown and it really makes you appreciate everything just a few steps outside the front door. The parks are full of people who smile and say good morning but Edinburgh has lost a little bit of dynamism from the lack of tourists. It will be exciting when they return!

What’s been the most challenging thing about lockdown so far?

JD: The need to constantly apologise to colleagues for interrupting cats. They seem to choose to be involved in video conversations at the most crucial moment. Again, I am really sorry about it and regretfully they can open doors themselves.

What project are you working on?

JD: We have just submitted the planning application for King’s Theatre in Edinburgh. It has been a wonderful opportunity to work with them. I am looking forward to continuing with our mission to make the building more accessible to all. With the current situation it has become even more clear just how valuable cultural venues like King’s are!

What tools or tricks are you using to stay organised with work and on top of it all in general?

JD: Taking it a step at a time and clearing my desk in the evening when I have finished working. I am also making a special effort to keep up a good mental hygiene by running, yoga, gardening and baking. I am also extremely lucky that my partner is an obsessive home brewer and makes a variety of delicious beers that are available from my kitchen on tap…
