Earlier this year we announced our partnership with the Climate Change charity Possible to incentivise low-carbon travel. The new policy at Bennetts Associates enables the team to receive an additional 2 days of holiday a year to offset additional time for opting a more carbon-friendly transport; an example is taking the train over taking the plane.
Last Christmas Architect Nikolay Shahpazov here at Bennetts Associates was one of the first to trial the new initiative. He chose to take the low-carbon travel route over taking a flight for his trip to Bulgaria and albeit the different in journey times, he calculated that one way flight to to Bulgaria would produce a footprint of 350kg of Carbon meanwhile by train, only 19kg of Carbon is produced.
As mentioned on his interview by the Sunday Times, "...about 50 employers have agreed to offer their staff at least two 'climate perks' days a year to enable them to take a slower journey to their holiday destination". We are proud to stand amongst these organisations such as Bates Wells and Farmdrop.
"To qualify for the time off, employees must travel by train or ferry or share a car with at least one passenger."
