WorldGBC has announced a major update to their Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment, expanding its scope to recognise leadership action in tackling embodied carbon emissions from the building and construction sector. In addition to the Commitment requiring all buildings assets within direct control to operate at net zero carbon by 2030, businesses and organisations are now also required to consider a building’s whole lifecycle impact, by mandating a 100% reduction in embodied carbon emissions of all new buildings or renovations by 2030, with a focus on upfront emissions.
