Our project Jaguar Land Rover Advanced Product Creation Centre was announced as the winner in the Commercial category at the first Digital RICS Social Impact Awards, West Midlands. The awards recognise built environment's positive and transformational contribution to society and the range of projects and initiatives based across the West Midlands.
Opened at the end of last year, the Advanced Product Creation Centre in Gaydon, Warwickshire, consolidates Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) core vehicle development process in one building: one of the foremost automotive design and engineering facilities in the world. In designing the sustainable facilities with an emphasis on wellbeing, the building creates a sense of community for its employees, is at the heart of a new parkland setting and engages with the wider community as a major employer within the West Midlands significantly benefiting the local economy.
Head judge Bryony Martin said: "This is a world class global centre for vehicle development and production from an exemplar UK-based car manufacturer. Vehicle development on a global stage is key to social impact and the success of a sustainable transport strategy. This impressive development has changed the game for JLR in terms of collaboration and will maximise vehicle development potential and efficiency. This is a new small town that has evolved with serious consideration to the local environment, economy, site heritage and social impact".
Social impact is a topic more prevalent now than ever and we are extremely pleased to see our project take this award. The project will now move on to RICS national awards in September - Congratulations to everyone involved!
