If you're in Edinburgh, be sure to not miss 'Low Carbon Architecture', an event taking place on the evening of Thursday 4th November as one of the inaugural events at SpACE, Scotland's platform for Architecture, Carbon and Environment.
Three prominent Edinburgh architectural practices – Reiach & Hall, Michael Laird and Bennetts Associates - will describe their approach to low-carbon architecture and engineering, with examples of re-use and newbuild. The pursuit of net-zero carbon by 2030 affects every aspect of design but these presentations show that the skills already exist and the outcomes are both inspiring and viable.
Michael Laird will present their work on re-use and retention of structures; Bennetts Associates will describe how data-driven carbon reduction affects every aspect of the practice’s work; Reiach & Hall will show what the net-zero standards mean in practice, through recent built examples. The three talks will leave time for audience discussion.
