Naajiyah joined Bennetts Associates in 2022 and is working on the initial design stages of a new headquarters building for a London healthcare Trust. The project explores the complex relationships between public facing civic buildings and the provision of sensitive healthcare services.
During her studies, Naajiyah developed a keen interest in social architecture that challenges our perceptions of the intersection between architecture and urbanism. Her design research project focused on how local markets, as civic commons, can be used as a social activator to enhance neighbourhood resilience and culture through the exchange of food within the community of Shadwell. Her proposal aspired to use the market’s qualities as an activator to create programmes for engagement and the opportunity for market users to grow, learn, cook and dine through sustainable community traditions.
Naajiyah has a passion for engaging with the younger student community to raise awareness of the Architecture profession and has taken part in mentoring programmes with the Creative Women’s Hub.
