Our first project in Athens is a landmark scheme with stunning views to the Acropolis, on a prominent site on a major thoroughfare linking the city centre and the seafront. Designed by Bennetts Associates and Divercity Architects for Greek developer Dimand, the Syggrou Office Complex consolidates a new commercial and cultural destination together with neighbouring Hellenic General Insurance HQ and the Onassis Stegi cultural centre.
Building A achieved LEED Platinum, exceeding its original target of LEED gold. The plan arrangement maximises its orientation, by placing cores and other dark areas along the South and West facades. The result is a predominantly solid elevation that reduces solar gain, overheating and mediates the need for cooling. The facades facing the public realm, provide a 60/40 ratio of solid to glazed, with vertical louvres running along the entire elevations to provide shading while distributing natural light and views out.
