Sam Gills

Sam is an enthusiastic designer and key member of our Manchester studio with experience of commercial, cultural, higher education and urban design projects.

Allowing him to develop in-depth knowledge in these three key sectors for Bennetts Associates, Sam’s experience covers: lead design and delivery of the work in progress pavilion for the Robotics Living Lab; internal packages on the Timber Square development; the external cladding package on The Poulton at Mayfield; development of the Whitby Hall theatre project from inception to construction; and delivery of entrance facilities for JLR’s global headquarters. He also played a key role in the design of several Strategic Regeneration Frameworks around Manchester including the Mayfield SRF and Manchester Piccadilly SRF. Work on the Manchester Piccadilly SRF built upon Sam’s thesis work at university, which explored architecture and infrastructure, seeking to unlock the potential brought by the arrival of HS2 and Northern powerhouse Rail into Piccadilly Station.

During his time at University, Sam acquired a keen interest in materials and new fabrication technologies. He is excited by the potential craftsmanship these developments offer and enjoys tinkering with his own 3D printer.
