Adrian Lonsdale

Adrian joined the practice in 2006 and worked on a diverse range of projects before moving to lead Bennetts Associates’ Manchester studio in 2016. Adrian is the Studio Director in Manchester.

Adrian is interested in architecture that puts people first. This can be seen in masterplans by Bennetts Associates across Manchester such as Mayfield, the HS2 SRF and Central Retail Park, where new people-focused public parks and spaces will improve life in the city. Buildings such as The Poulton, an office in Mayfield, Manchester, will create public communal spaces for people that encourage human interaction, ownership, and shared experiences. This approach is a common theme across all his projects, from providing police officers with the facilities they require to improve policing at the Metropolitan Police Service’s Peel Centre in Hendon, to meeting the requirements of actors in order to put on the best performance possible at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. He has a diverse range of project-based experience including masterplanning, workplace, rail, cultural, education and residential architecture across different scales. Adrian enjoys all aspects of the business including developing client relationships, growing an office with local talent, and speaking at events.
